A. Le Coq’s fifth electric truck to serve the Pärnu region

Truck Trading Estonia has delivered the fifth electric truck to A. Le Coq, Estonia’s largest beverage producer. The new fully electric DAF XD Electric truck will serve customers in Pärnu and Pärnu County.

A. Le Coq began using electric heavy-duty trucks in 2022 and has gradually increased their share in its vehicle fleet. With the addition of the new truck, the company now has a total of five fully electric trucks. Until now, the vehicles have served customers in the Tallinn and Tartu regions; with this new addition, electric truck deliveries will for the first time also expand to Pärnu.

“For A. Le Coq, introducing electric trucks has not been a one-off trial or a passing trend. In our day-to-day operations, we see that they are well suited for regional deliveries, comfortable for drivers, and, thanks to lower noise levels and reduced emissions, a good fit for urban environments. Alongside these positive impacts, deliveries remain efficient, and electric trucks do not require compromises in performance,” said Erki Lehiste, Logistics and Purchasing Director at A. Le Coq.

A. Le Coq uses only renewable green electricity to charge its trucks. As a result, the energy-use footprint of the vehicles is 99% lower compared with diesel trucks.

“The electric truck is no longer a future technology — with the right operating profile, it is already an efficient work tool today. An electric truck is quiet, efficient and very comfortable for the driver, and for a company it can also be an economically sensible choice when the use case and charging solution are well matched. It is particularly well suited to operations where daily routes and mileage are known in advance and charging can be planned,” said Koen van den Bogaard, representative of DAF Trucks N.V. This is the first DAF electric truck in Estonia.

The DAF XD Electric delivered to the company is designed primarily for regional and distribution transport. The truck’s electric drivetrain delivers 270 kW of power, and the vehicle is equipped with five LFP battery packs with a total installed capacity of 525 kWh and usable energy of 462 kWh. According to DAF factory data, the five-battery configuration enables the truck to cover more than 500 kilometres on a single charge.
