Sustainable use of water
The production of beverages is a water-intensive industry. The sustainable use of water, like other natural resources, is a key guiding principle for our operations and targets. We seek to reduce our water consumption per litre produced.
To make our water use more efficient, we continuously invest in technologies that optimize the production process and reduce water consumption. In 2023, water consumption in Tartu Brewery was 2,57 liters per litre produced.
- Alongside the biogas plant, we established our own wastewater treatment system in 2022, significantly reducing organic discharge into the Tartu city sewage system.
- We capture and redirect rainwater separately into a stormwater collector, thereby reducing the burden on the city’s water system.
