The University of Tartu Maks & Moorits basketball team has signed a three-year cooperation agreement with A. Le Coq, a long-established Estonian beverage producer.
“It is a great joy and honor that a local Tartu company – one of Estonia’s most recognized and respected brands – is supporting our activities. Both basketball and A. Le Coq have long-standing traditions in Tartu, and this cooperation felt natural for both parties. A. Le Coq’s support will help us take important steps both in sporting terms and in offering even better experiences for our fans,” said Janar Talts, Sports Director of the University of Tartu basketball team.
According to Katrin Vernik, Marketing Director of A. Le Coq, contributing to sports and the community is one of the company’s core values: “We are honored to begin cooperation with the University of Tartu basketball team and sports club. As a local company, we want to strongly contribute to the Tartu community, to sports, and to supporting physical activity. Supporting the development of Tartu basketball and forming this partnership is a natural continuation of that. We believe we can provide strong support to the sport and the team, offering opportunities and experiences not only to the players and fans but also to the wider community.”
Under the agreement, A. Le Coq becomes both the official beverage partner and a major supporter of the basketball club and the entire University of Tartu Academic Sports Club. A. Le Coq is Estonia’s oldest and largest beverage producer and today boasts the broadest product portfolio of any beverage industry player in the Baltic Sea region.

This season, the University of Tartu basketball team will compete not only in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League and the Estonian Basketball Championship but also in the FIBA Europe Cup. In their first official game of the season, Tartu will face BC Kalev/Cramo away on October 1 as part of the Estonian-Latvian league.
