On 16 February, a ceremonial scholarship award event took place at the A. Le Coq Museum Pub, where A. Le Coq and the Olvi Foundation, in cooperation with the Tartu Cultural Endowment, recognised two students from Tartu Vocational College (VOCO).

The engineering scholarship was awarded to mechatronics students Karl Joosep Lobjakas and Mihkel Altsaar, who have distinguished themselves both in their academic studies and in practical training.

A. Le Coq has been awarding engineering scholarships since 2007 with the aim of supporting students’ professional development and contributing to the growth of qualified specialists in the industrial sector. The programme also strengthens the connection between the company and future professionals.

The cooperation between the company and educational institutions is further reinforced by A. Le Coq’s Chief Automation Engineer, Jevgeni Kuznetsov, who has contributed to VOCO’s teaching activities for many years. As a module instructor, he brings a direct link to real production environments into the training of future mechatronics specialists, helping students better understand the expectations and daily realities of industrial work.

Practical cooperation with schools, scholarship programmes and introducing students to the company’s working environment help bridge education and industry, ensuring that graduates are well prepared for their professional careers.

What is the Olvi Foundation?

The Olvi Foundation (OLVI-säätiö) is a foundation established in 1955 by Olvi’s CEO and owner Evert Wilhelm Åberg and his wife Hedwig. Its purpose is to contribute to societal development, ensure the continuity of the company, and support meaningful educational and scientific initiatives.

The foundation focuses primarily on supporting the development of children and young people, advancing the education of talented students, and promoting educational and research projects. It fulfils its mission through scholarships and grants that create future opportunities and foster the value of education.

The joint scholarship programme of A. Le Coq and the Olvi Foundation is an example of long-term and meaningful cooperation that supports the professional development of young people and contributes to the sustainable future of technical education in Estonia.

We wish the scholarship recipients, Karl Joosep Lobjakas and Mihkel Altsaar, every success in their studies and future careers.
